About Me
I am a technical executive with 25 years of experience in strategic technology leadership and program management maturation, having delivered top enterprise initiatives across business units, and leading multiple levels of teams for Fortune 100 companies with focus on entertainment and technology. I have led, and been a part of the delivery team, for projects for Experience Music Project, T-Mobile, Starbucks, Hear Music, multiple Disney / ESPN / ABC properties, and Amazon.
My passion for Project Management Organization (PMO) leadership began over 20 years ago, and I am active in the global PMO community as a contributor, writer, and speaker. In my early years as a technology professional, I worked as a software developer and database administrator. I still write code for fun, and enjoy the challenge of working with emerging hardware platforms. I am a confident and experienced public speaker, and highly successful at working with senior executive sponsors. I am regularly consulted by executives for strategic planning and analysis of business opportunities. I have presented keynote speeches for technology, project management, executive leadership, and music industries.
In addition to my technology career, I have been a professional musician for over 40 years. I play guitar, bass, banjo, Warr Guitar, and percussion. Many of my blog posts are based on my musical adventures with various bands and recording sessions. I have numerous composition, performance, musical director, and arranger credits on CDs and DVD, and have composed soundtracks for independent films and theater productions.
During my years as a professional musician I have learned the value of creative expression and developed an appreciation for growing a business based on creating customer joy. I have extensive experience as an audio and video engineer and editor. As a technology specialist, my personal interests in music, video and online delivery have coalesced into a fervor for the entertainment convergence occurring across the gaming / sports / news / movie industries. As the manager of a high-performing team, I recognize the value of effective mentorship and team growth. I am committed to being involved in the community and am active in volunteering and mentoring programs for public high schools and universities, both on behalf of my company, and other national non-profit agencies.
I am a certified Master Program Manager, certified K-12 Educator, and have degrees in Music, Education, and Computer Science. I’m also an avid semi-professional photographer, enjoy great wine, love the opera, and am generally interested in all things related to technology.
