Family Site
Over the weekend I redesigned and relaunched my family’s web site. Like this site, it is powered by WordPress 2.3 and I am excited to have a place where my extended worldwide family can post news.

I’ve redesigned and relaunched my thinkasaurus.com web site. This is the site I use for business purposes and project-based work. I’m delighted with the work we’ve gotten and look forward to our next projects!
It’s more complicated than I can get into in a simple posting, but I’m a big fan of cephalopods. Blame it on Cthulhu if you like. One of my favorite animals has always been the wily cuttlefish.
But what makes life worth living is the strange colossal beasts that hide in the depths of the ocean. Again, you could blame it on Cthulhu. But in this case you can blame it on the giant squid that was recently hauled up from the inky blackness of the deep ocean. I’m bummed that this specimen is no longer cruising the ocean, but it’s amazing to see such a good photograph of an intact adult of this size.
A couple of years ago my wife and I became involved with a national nonprofit organization called Rebuilding Together. This is a volunteer organization that rebuilds and revitalizes the homes of the low-income, disabled and elderly. It’s been a rewarding and meaningful experience for us to work with them, and seeing the impact of our annual project weekend is inspiring.
Last year we were voted onto the board of directors of our local affiliate, and we have been more directly involved with the management of our strategy. I am working on a new web site for our group and will be attempting to provide an extensible framework that can be used on a national basis.
While I’m fairly certain my favorite creature on the planet is the cuttlefish, I have to say that I’m mighty pleased that evolution has favored us with the Vampyroteuthis infernalis or “vampire squid from Hell”. Take a look at this web page for more information. And hooray for cephalopods!
For the past five years, I have been hosting all of my web sites at webhost4life. They consistently deliver great service and support, to the point where I regularly recommend them to friends, family and professional clients. The major selling points for me have been the level of flexibility with server-side technologies and languages, along with solid database support. In a single host account with them, I house six different web domains, each with databases and email accounts. They offer a simple control panel to manage the implementation of pre-written applications for blogging and merchandise catalogs, but I am always eager to dig in and write my own code (hence the implementation of this site). Webhost4life has been a handy place to write/test/deploy my library of classic ASP, ASP.NET/C#, and PHP code. Overall, I’m very satisfied with their service and have been delighted with their quick-response technical support.
I recently discovered Improv Everywhere and it’s currently one of my favorite web sites. The basic notion is that a bunch of bored geeks in NYC set up strange events for social amusement. Their most current exploits are listed on the web site. I was delighted to find out that a friend of mine from high school is involved.
