Migrated

April 30, 2007 by john No Comments »

As of today, I am fully migrated from my previous code base to this new blog. I decided to move my posts along in the process. One of the major drivers in deciding to go with an open-source blog engine was the advantage of a larger user base, and thus a large development base for the platform.
My new blog is built on a PHP platform and is a fairly typical install of WordPress. So, welcome to my new blog.

why do we blog?

From guest columnist, David Ball
Blogging is such an odd concept. To someone who doesn’t know us, it can seem narcissistic in nature. For the people who know and love us, blogs are a great gift. Extended friends and family gain a connection to our everyday lives that they otherwise couldn’t share. Consider those who love us who are thousands of miles away. We rarely are able to spend time with them; this medium can connect us.

John’s teamIf you’re part of John’s circle of loved ones, encourage him to make his blog a reflection of the richness that he lives… his love, his music, his passions. We all stand to gain from his experiences.

Thanks for listening,
Dave

Fretless!

April 3, 2007 by john No Comments »

Warwick CorvetteLast week I finally got the bass I’ve been wanting. A few years ago I started searching for a great fretless, and the one bass that always remained my reference point has been the Warwick Corvette. They tend to be expensive, and I really couldn’t justify the expense of a new one, so I’ve been waiting for a deal on a very good quality used model. The right deal came along last week, and I have Bass Northwest to thank for the deal. They’ve been very patient during my search and have offered a lot of guidance. My new bass is a four string model with the standard setup: bubinga body, ovankol neck, ebony fretboard. And it goes “mwah!”
